   In part, this label is true- but no more or less than hetero, for these are   
   less likely to be discriminative (will for example, take a spouse to   
   establish him/herself in community, sexually overpower a person known to   
   them in a temporary emotional vulnerability) in their sexual escapades.   
   I know of several examples of such from  first hand experience dealing with   
   these individuals, and know how frustrating it is to get them locked up.   
   The causes for pedophilism appear to be as diverse as the number of them   
   that are out there, but for most part it appears that they grew up very   
   confused about their sexuality from being.... interfered with.   
      
   1) One family member ran from home when he was 18 (was '20s or '30s) made   
   mention his family was poor, and dressed him in girls' clothes. A Biblical   
   man, he believed women were Jezebel's, and put sexual thoughts into his head   
   that weren't there of his own accord. He was also only male besides his   
   father.   
   He stated his purpose for leaving was if he stayed "either his father would   
   be killed, or himself."   
   From there, he moved in with a runaway girl somewhere, and was charged for   
   his involvement with a minor.   
   Nothing further was known of his exploits since, until several years after   
   he married his wife and had kids. Females (any age) were for his pleasure,   
   and boys to be treated harshly   
   From about this point on (now '50s) he managed to create for my extended   
   family a personal hell in which I was aware of since I was eight, and nowing   
   then ('80s) that sooner or later, this man will go down- one way or another,   
   waiting with anticipation year after year as the family continually   
   patronised this man until one person finally said enough. (She already made   
   up her mind to do so 20 years ago, why did she wait?)   
      
   2) another man known to myself as an acquaintance through a woman living   
   with him at the time, admitted to having spent time in jail for offences   
   relating to his two nephews, minors at the time.   
   He described his counselling sessions as sessions of abuse where the   
   facillatators hurled their outrage at members in the group itself.   
   This man had a wife, but prefferred males. His wife left him when he started   
   playing a little close to the vest with the woman I mentioned earlier in   
   this paragraph, and it came out that this same woman let her daughter alone   
   with this man for a half hour alone, knowing his criminal history.   
   Someone I knew had a relationship with this woman, and in a resulting   
   argument over this incident, wound up assalting her.   
   This... pedophile, to the best of my knowledge, did not commit a crime   
   against this woman's daughter, but it was still a risk she should not have   
   taken for both his sake ( I view his crime as an addiction; I would no   
   sooner give a drunk a bottle, than allow a 'reformed' pedophile' access to a   
   minor) as well as her daughter's.   
   3) I heard since that she has a son, and that both children are from same   
   father ( according to the Ministry of Children and Families, another alleged   
   pedophile) who during her relationship with another guy, was court-ordered   
   by Ministry not to have contact with, and in fact had taken a restraining   
   order out on, nonetheless continued sexual contact with, even while   
   simultaneously phoning the police and notifying them of his breach.   
   Her (now former) commonlaw spouse got wind of this, and when the time was   
   right, knowing when this individual would be at her residence next, phoned   
   the police notifying them he knew where a wanted criminal could be found,   
   and who was harbouring him. His former spouse almost wound up going to jail   
   at the same time as the guy she hid in her closet when the police arrived.   
   4) Not one to give up, her daughter now in adopive care, and the father out   
   of jail, she now has four men: 2 now are alleged pedophiles, a third is a   
   'dupe' (climing this guy as a spouse to throw the Ministry off as to the   
   true ID of her son's father), and the fourth is her flavour of the month.   
   5) a man I knew since he was a teen, and also a former spouse of the woman   
   described in the last three paragraphs, is the adopted son of a prominent   
   West-Van lawyer, restauranteer, and former Mayor. He claims sexual abuse by   
   this man since adoption, and consequently can only enjoy sex when obtained   
   by force. This is applicable to any gender.   
      
   If it weren't for example one being a close relation, I would not have   
   stayed around this woman who collected men with these diverse sexual   
   perversions. As it is, when I recollect on what I know, I question my   
   sanity, as well as the true definition of 'humanity'.
