Out of the fire and into the frying pan.

I did the "work to make others rich" thing for too many years,
and used to complain bitterly about the seeming abuse of
frontline employees by corporate management and execs.

Finally about ten years ago I had a boss (actually he owned
the company I was working for at the time) who in a casual
conversation explained the cold hard reality. Corporate
America doesn't give a rat's ass whether a given employee
lives or dies, nor should they, nor are they supposed to. If
an employee decides to work his or her ass off to help buy
Michael Corporate Fatcat another Rolls Royce, that's a free
choice and there's no one else to blame but oneself.

That's when I decided to start my own business and start
working for myself, and I haven't looked back since. Yes it
meant working 12 hour days, at least initially, but at least the
fruits of my hard work are going where they're supposed to.
