XPost: soc.singles, alt.disney, misc.consumers       XPost: alt.disney.the-evil-empire       From: anyone@THE-DOMAIN-IN.SIG              In article <2kfia5F1n5erU1@uni-berlin.de>,       me@privacy.net says...       > I did the "work to make others rich" thing for too many years,       > and used to complain bitterly about the seeming abuse of       > frontline employees by corporate management and execs.       >       > Finally about ten years ago I had a boss (actually he owned       > the company I was working for at the time) who in a casual       > conversation explained the cold hard reality. Corporate       > America doesn't give a rat's ass whether a given employee       > lives or dies, nor should they, nor are they supposed to.                     Gosh! How soooooo tewwwibwy cynical! (sob, sob)              Next, meanies like you might inform me that some random       schmuck does "not" owe me anything! Like, those       compensation payments which I thought I was ENTITLED to       receive for my wonderful accomplishments like, um,       Breathing... and Whatching The Click Tick, Waiting For       It To Be 5:00, and, and, Existing...              I mean, *really*, I am Entitled to get paid by all of       those Big, Bad Corporate Opressors... along with those       "low-class" plebs whom I perceive as beneath me for       their subservience to the "merit" concept...              Poor Me! Poor Me! My Rights! (sob, sob!)... (whine,       whine!)                     > If an employee decides to work his or her ass off to help buy       > Michael Corporate Fatcat another Rolls Royce, that's a free       > choice and there's no one else to blame but oneself.                     And if "Michael Corporate Fatcat" watches my decent,       qualified, hard-working arse, on its way out the door,       (to be replaced with some moron), that is a free       choice, too :)                     > That's when I decided to start my own business and start       > working for myself, and I haven't looked back since. Yes it       > meant working 12 hour days, at least initially, but at least the       > fruits of my hard work are going where they're supposed to.                     Better yet, dispense with the Entitled fantasy of       "supposed to." Self-employment is a good way of       getting in touch with Hard Reality, and letting go of       Entitlement, "Fair," "Rules," etc, etc.              Interestingly, that seems to be why some people get       freaked out about it, even when it is just an       acquaintance who is self-employed (or working       commission)... It is viewed as a personal affront to       their values, ass-umptions... Entitlement...              --       Get Credit Where Credit Is Due       http://www.cardreport.com/       Credit Tools, Reference, and Forum              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
