From: -sysop@worldgroup.no-ip.com-              Yes you heard right. Originally Gcomm made a Unix/Linux version of MBBS but       it never sold very many copies. (In 12 years I've only ever come across one       person who had a copy of it and wouldn't open the box to let me check it       out.). There has never been a c/s version (worldgroup) for UNIX released       although Stryker played around a bit with a port before he passed. At that       time it was believed that MS was going to take a larger slice of the       backbone pie and a UNIX version would have been a waste of resource.              Sorry pal, but your best hope at WG x.xx on UNIX/Linux is an emulator either       w32 emu for debian or UNIX for windows if you want to go the other       direction. If you ever come across the UNIX version of MBBS I'd love to       know. I'm still searching. I sampled it quite a bit at gcomm in Florida,       and at Majorware in Toronto and loved it. When combined with a half decent       user accounting and management system in UNIX it's sharp and seemed to be       much more stable than a windows turnkey solution.              Regards              Rob       to email send to SysOp @ the sever below (sorry for hassle but I get 'nuff       spam already)       major . bbsindex . com              __________________________________________________________________              WG/MBBS Module & C/S Developers Group       _________________________________________________________________                            "Exide Arabellan" |
