|    Bug#1111196: upgrade-reports: booting is    |
|    15 Aug 25 14:50:01    |
XPost: linux.debian.bugs.dist       From: anikmitter@gmail.com              Package: upgrade-reports       Severity: important       X-Debbugs-Cc: anikmitter@gmail.com              (Please provide enough information to help the Debian       maintainers evaluate the report efficiently - e.g., by filling       in the sections below.)              My previous release is: 6.12.38       I am upgrading to: 6.12.41       Archive date:       Upgrade date: 15/08/2025 2pm       uname -a before upgrade: Linux Anik-PC 6.12.38+deb13-amd64 #1 SMP       PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.12.38-1 (2025-07-16) x86_64 GNU/Linux       uname -a after upgrade: Unable to check as I could not boot up       Method: First time I used the software utility to upgrade. Then I had to       restore using timeshift after booting up from grub using the older kernel       verson entry. I tried the upgrade again from the terminal using apt update &&       apt upgrade and I faced        exactly the same issue again              Contents of /etc/apt/sources.list:       #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 12.11.0 _Bookworm_ - Official amd64 NETINST with       firmware 20250517-09:51]/ bookworm contrib main non-free-firmware              deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie main non-free-firmware contrib       non-free       deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie main non-free-firmware contrib       non-free              deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security trixie-security main       non-free-firmware contrib non-free       deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security trixie-security main       non-free-firmware contrib non-free              # bookworm-updates, to get updates before a point release is made;       # see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.e       .html#_updates_and_backports       deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie-updates main non-free-firmware       contrib non-free       deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie-updates main non-free-firmware       contrib non-free                            - Were there any non-Debian packages installed before the upgrade? If        so, what were they?       None except the proprietary NVIDIA driver version 570 from NVIDIA repo which       works best with WAYLAND              - Was the system pre-update a 'pure' system only containing packages        from the previous release? If not, which packages were not from that        release?       Yes              - Did any packages fail to upgrade?       No              - Were there any problems with the system after upgrading?       The system stopped booting with the error that there was a timeout in trying       to mount my hard drives that were set to auto mount. It seemed to try to mount       from mnt/x201.mnt which is not a name that I was using for my auto mount set       up through the disk        utility              Further Comments/Problems:       There was also an error before that to say that DKMS service could not be       started              Please attach the output of "COLUMNS=200 dpkg -l" (or "env COLUMNS ...",       depending on your shell) from before and after the upgrade so that we       know what packages were installed on your system.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
